Frances Wolfe

Laura Frances “Tancy” Wolfe, 96, lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, was born, July 5, 1921, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Dewey L. and Lillian E. (Rieger) Henry, Sr. She departed this life, Friday, October 6, 2017, at the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center surrounded with love and family.

Frances attended Pleasant Hill High school. She walked from the country into town every morning, on her way to school, always stopping at her grandparents for breakfast.

On April 5, 1937, she was united in marriage to Harry C. Wolfe, Sr. in Butler, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2005.

Frances was employed as a Seamstress for the King Louie Garment Company in Pleasant Hill and later for Grace Co. in Belton. She also worked alongside Harry Sr. on their farm, before moving into town. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She loved sewing, gardening, and working in the yard.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Patti Jo and Jana Lee; one granddaughter, Angela Colleen; one great grandson, Seth Powell; three brothers, Dewey L. Henry, Jr., Vernon “W.C” Henry, and Harry R. Henry; and one sister, Mary Louise Hammons.

She is survived by her son, Harry C. (and Retta Young) Wolfe, Jr. of Pleasant Hill; one daughter, Linda Powell of Adrian; one grandson, Boyd Young of Garden City, Missouri; one granddaughter, Kathryn Wolfe of Kearney, Missouri; ten great grandchildren, Amy, Jimmy, David, Kara, Makayla, Brittany, Dustin, Dawson, Destinee, and Emalyn; 13 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Reverend David Owsley will officiate. Music will be rendered by Mr. Chuck Fulton. Interment is in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers are W.C. Dever, Chuck Fulton, Larry Henry, David Powell, Jimmy Powell, and Dan Steen. Honorary casket bearers are Steve Blair, Steve Bricker, David Brown, and Jim Powell.

Memorial contributions are suggest to Compassus Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
