James "Jim" C. Fletcher

February 3, 1932 — July 15, 2018

James "Jim" Carlton Fletcher, 86, of Belton, Missouri departed this life on Sunday, July 15, 2018 of complications from dementia at Jefferson Health Care, Lee's Summit, Missouri with his wife, Helen by his side.

Jim was born February 3, 1932 in Marion, Kentucky the son of Cavit and Millie (Gilland) Fletcher. He moved to Grandview in 1954 and worked for Ruskin Mfg. Co. until his retirement in 1982. Jim made the first damper at Ruskin in 1958 and in 1964 became part owner. He also worked a 2nd job for the Grandview Police Department. After his retirement, he was hired as the first Security Guard at Research Medical Center, Belton, Missouri when it opened. Jim was a avid softball player, playing on several Senior softball teams and went to the Senior Olympic Games in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2004. His teams won several tournaments, trophies and medals throughout the years.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Duane Fletcher; two sisters, Lois Farmer and Jean Clouse and a brother, Creed Fletcher.

Jim is survived by his wife, Helen Fletcher of the home; four daughters, Brenda Stamper and Cindy Wheeler both of Marion, Kentucky, Vicki Goodson and husband DWayne, Platte City, Missouri and Tracy Fletcher, Concord, California; two step-sons, Terry Phillips and wife Susan, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Michael Butcher, Kansas City, Missouri; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; a brother, Tony Fletcher, Dawson Springs, Kentucky; his sister, Peggy McReynolds, Marion, Kentucky; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation. Celebration of Life Service was held Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the New Hope Christian Church, 18809 S State Route Y, Belton, MO 64012.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Christian Church Memorial Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
