Obituary for Karen Sue Kendrick-Lawrence

Karen Sue Kendrick-Lawrence, 71, of Adrian, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, March 29, 2018. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 11, 1946, the daughter of Lewis C Payne and Claris N. Payne (Kisner). Most of her life she was raised in Strasburg, Missouri and attended the First Baptist Church.

On April 27, 1963, Sue was united in marriage to Delbert LeRoy Kendrick in Paola, Kansas and they raised three beautiful children, Debbie, Junior and Becky. They were married for 39 years until his passing in 2002. Delbert and Sue loved dancing, playing cards and spending times with friends and family. In her spare time, she loved watching her flowers grow, feeding and watching her numerous humming birds. Sue loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Sue worked at Masoners United Super and Big Tank before retiring at Casco Workshop in March of 2003.

On June 18, 2008, Sue was united in marriage to Junior Lawrence in Archie, Missouri. They loved watching game shows, old westerns and playing cards.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-dad, Erine Gregg and four brothers Elvin, Don, Bill and John Payne.

Sue is survived by her husband Junior Vester Lawrence of the home; her children Debbie Bird and husband Bob of Warrensburg, Missouri, Delbert L. "Junior" Kendrick and wife Stacy of Garden City, Missouri, Rebecca L. Christiansen and husband John of Archie, Missouri; six grandchildren, Ben Bird, Lance Randolph, Whitney Weber, Dakota Christiansen, Brianna Mason and Katlyn Christiansen; six great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Deardorff of Stockton, Missouri, Kathy Millican of New Albany, Mississippi and Ruby Gregg of Kansas City, Missouri, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Crescent Hill Cemetery near Adrian, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
