Marie (Bunnell) Westerfield

Estella Marie Westerfield, 89, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born December 13, 1928, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Louis Martin and May Etta (Hamilton) Bunnell. She departed this life and entered into glory on December 31, 2017, at the Newmark Care Center, Kansas City, surrounded with love and family.

Marie was a 1946 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.

On May 17, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ralph W. Westerfield in Pleasant Hill. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2002.

Marie was first employed as a secretary for Unity Village; later becoming a homemaker. She was a former member of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church. She was an active member of Living Word Community Church, of Gladstone where she was dearly loved. She was an avid reader and collected anything related to butterflies.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Marie was also preceded in death by her parents Louis and May; her sisters Ruth Powell and Alice Bunnell; her brother-in-law Jim Powell; and two nephews, Jimmie Powell and Stanley Powell.

She is survived by daughter Renee Hinrich of Marysville, Missouri; her nephew Jerry Powell of Gladstone; three grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2017, at the funeral home. Reverends Jerry Powell and Burt Comstock will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers are Rev. Burt Comstock, Rev. Dee Gilbert, Louie Lyons, Bob Mesias, Rev. Larry Parrish, and Adam Powell.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Marie requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent Living Word Community Church, 7600 N. Park Ave. Gladstone, Missouri 64118.
