Marie Ann Coates, 85, of Raytown, was born, May 9, 1932, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, the daughter of George and Annie Stafford. She departed this life Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the John Knox Village Hospice House, Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Marie was a 1950 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School.
She was first united in marriage to George E. Morasch, from this union two sons, George II and Jack were born; they later divorced. On July 14, 2017, she was united in marriage to George David Coates in Kansas City; he preceded her in death on March 31, 2016.
Marie had been employed as a bookkeeper and a realtor. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Raytown. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, brother Corporal Jack Stafford and step-son Jeffrey Coates.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Ada Lee and Al King and her sister Virginia Thurman. She is also survived by two sons, Jack A. (Diana) Morasch, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and George E. Morasch II of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two step-sons, Michael (Janice) Coates, Dan (Karen) Coates and Mrs.Jeffrey(Abby) Coates; three step-daughters, Barbara (Mike) Roberson, Kerry Coates, and Colleen (Glenn) Girone; 23 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, friends and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
