Norma Jean Handke

Norma Jean Handke, 79, of Amoret, Missouri departed this life November 28, 2017 surrounded by love and family at her home. Norma was one of five daughters born to the late George and Margaret VanCamp and was the beloved wife for nearly 47 years to Ernest Handke. She will forever be in the hearts of her family. Three daughters, Margaret (Wheeldon) Brown and husband Cleatis, of Adrian, Missouri, Twylia (Wheeldon) Siegel and her husband Jeff of New Meadows, Idaho and Stacy (Handke) Dohle and her husband Dean of Pleasant Hope, Missouri. Five wonderful grandchildren, Zach Siegel, Abby Siegel, Billy Wheeldon (wife Thelma), Danielle Wheeldon and Grant Dohle and one great-grand daughter, Kelsey Austin-Wheeldon. Her loving sisters, Dorothy Craig, El Dorado Springs, Missouri and Donna Gibson of Creighton, Missouri along with many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends who hold special memories of her.

Norma was a life-long farm wife, mother and care taker of the home. She was a wonderful cook and passed that talent on to her daughters. She was extremely proud of her deck that was designed and built by her late son, Danny, and enjoyed spending time there. For those who knew Norma, they enjoyed teasing her and getting her fired up. And they did! But she enjoyed every minute of it.

She is preceded in death by her parents George and Margaret (Sullivan) VanCamp, son, Danny Wheeldon, and sisters, Nancy (VanCamp) Lillard and Mary Owen.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Dayton Cemetery near Garden City.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Care Hospice, Harrisonville.
