Samuel Arthur Prettyman of Harrisonville, Missouri was born March 27, 1940 in Harrisonville, Missouri the son of Thomas Brown and Clara Belle (Bybee) Prettyman. He departed this life on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at his home near Harrisonville at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 15 days.
On November 13, 1970 Sam was united in marriage to Mary Ellen David in Harrisonville.
Sam was employed as a cable splicer for United Telephone Company and later Sprint for 39 years and 3 months until his retirement in 2002. He served as a volunteer fire fighter for the Harrisonville Fire Department for 35 years and it has been said if you want Sam to move faster, let the fire alarm go off. A member of the United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of Cass Masonic Lodge all in Harrisonville. Sam loved to garden, fish, dance and hand cut wood. Always, enjoyed drinking coffee at the local coffee shops. He was a lifelong area resident.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T.B. and Clara Belle Prettyman, his daughter, Lorie Lynne Wimsatt McGee.
Sam is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Prettyman of the home; 2 sons, Sammy Prettyman (Lisa), Buffalo, Missouri, Loren Wimsatt, Adrian, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Chantz, Randi, Cassie, David, Josh, Justin (Madeline), Jasen, Kenzie, Paige and Caitlyn; a great-grandson, Hunter; his brother, Robert Prettyman and his sister, Carol Prettyman both of Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
