Dr. David De Helms, of The Villages, Florida, was born December 2, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Raymond Frank and Ada Anne (Collins) De Helms. He departed this life Friday, July 23, 2010 at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Florida at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 21 days.
On December 21, 1952, David was united in marriage to Cora Ann Smith in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dr. De Helms was in education for 31 years serving as a teacher and later as the Assistant Superintendent for the Hickman Mills School District. He had received his doctorate from the University of Kansas. Dr. De Helms served with the United States Marine Corps in Korea 1950-51. He was a member of The Chosin Few. He had lived in Harrisonville before moving to Florida.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Anne on May 18, 1995.
Dr. De Helms is survived by his daughter, Jacquelyn Jordan, Belleville, Illinois.
Graveside services were held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri
