Alice May Phipps, 88 of Lee’s Summit, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born Sunday, July 6, 1924 in St. Louis, the daughter of J. Ross and Edna (DesCombes) Thomas. She departed this life at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Wilshire at Lakewood, Lee's Summit.
On May 16, 1943, Alice was united in marriage to Gerald Richard Phipps in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 26, 1980.
Alice was a homemaker. She loved camping with friends and family, and was an avid bird watcher.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her close companion Glenn Kimball of Kansas City; three sons Michael and his wife Judy of Blue Springs, Rodney and his wife Felicia of Greer, South Carolina, and John and his wife Joanna of Pleasant Hill; Eight Grandchildren; Four Great Grandchildren; one brother Jim and his wife Jean Thomas of Slidell, Louisiana; other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Reverend Jim Tolliver of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home on Friday.
