Alvin Gene Flippin of Harrisonville, Missouri was born February 5, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Lawrence Hobert and Kathryn Elizabeth (Hayes) Flippin. He departed this life on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by love and family at the age of 88years, 4 months and 21 days.
On January 6, 1949, Alvin was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Jackson in Clinton, Missouri.
Alvin was employed as a carpenter for several contractors and retired in 1981 from Tom Martin Construction Co., Kansas City, Missouri. He was a faithful member of the Freeman Baptist Church and was a Navy veteran of World War II. A lifetime member of the united Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Alvin will be remembered by his family as a father, grandfather, by his many projects he completed around the house and by his he can fix anything attitude. He had lived in Clinton, Hartwell, Missouri and Stilwell, Kansas before moving to Harrisonville.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy on May 18, 2017; a grandson, Jeremy Steven Wright; two brothers, Bob and Junior; two sisters, Phyllis Flippin and Lois Barnes.
He is survived by two sons, Stanley Flippin, Harrisonville, Missouri; Mark Flippin (Debbie), Selah, Washington; two daughters, Donna Woolery (Clifford), Harrisonville, Missouri, Sharon Wright (Steve), Harrisonville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Kathryn Steenrod, Lockwood, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Satrday, July 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Freeman Baptist Church, Freeman, Missouri. Interment with Military Honors at Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri.
Final arrangements are under the care of Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
