Amos Ray Vogeler

Amos Ray Vogeler, of Creighton, Missouri, was born August 11, 1933 in Adrian, Missouri the son of George Thomas and Essie Florence (Messinger) Vogeler. He departed this life Friday, March 13, 2009 at his home at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 2 days.
On October 13, 1981, Amos was united in marriage to Eunice Ethel (Wear) Hodges in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Amos was employed as a miner for Limpus Quarries, Garden City, Missouri for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Ballard Baptist Church and had attended the Creighton Baptist Church. Amos was an avid mushroom hunter and loved hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening. He was a lifelong resident of Bates and Cass Counties.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Hodges; two brothers, Orie and Arthur Vogeler and a sister, Dorothy Oldham.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice Vogeler of the home; two sons, Gary Vogeler and wife Anita, Rogers, Arkansas, Cletis Hodges and wife Linda, Harrisonville, Missouri; four daughters, Marilyn Hobbs and husband Steve, Odessa, Missouri, Carolyn Stevens, Kansas City, Missouri, Marleen Howard and husband Melvin, Springdale, Arkansas, Leanne Smith and husband Gene, Creighton, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; two sisters, Gladys Jobe, Stover, Missouri, June Cumpton, Adrian, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Parker Cemetery near Creighton.
