Arlene Woodring Palmer

December 16, 1931 — February 23, 2017

Evelyn Arlene Palmer of Garden City, Missouri was born December 16, 1931 in Garden City the daughter of Nebartus Sproal and LouElla Ardella (Whitemen) Allison. She quietly departed this life early in the morning on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 7 days.
On October 9, 1949 Arlene was united in marriage to Daniel Roy Woodring and later married Bill Palmer on July 31, 1981.
Arlene was employed as a secretary at the ASCS offices in Harrisonville, Missouri and later in Casa Grande, Arizona until her retirement in 1990 from the Clinton, Missouri office. Earlier she was employed by the Garden City, Missouri School District and later at Sherwood Cass R-8 School District, Creighton, Missouri until 1971. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #498 both in Garden City. Arlene was a lifelong resident and a 1949 graduate of Garden City High School.
Besides her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her sister, Iona Elliott and an infant brother.
Arlene is survived by her son, Steve Woodring and wife, Helen, Garden City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Daniel Woodring and wife, Abby, Harrisonville, Missouri, Danelle Bailey, Garden City, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Conner and Ashton; two step-great-grandchildren, Kaci and Toby; her brother-in-law, Charles Elliott, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; several nieces, nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Live visitation was held Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Cremation with inurnment in Garden City Cemetery at a later date.
Family suggests contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #498, Garden City, Missouri.
