Arlie Robert Jackson, 84, of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by his family.
Arlie was born in White City, Kansas on December 23, 1929 to Arley R. Jackson and Viola K. Parker. He attended and graduated from Creighton High School in Creighton, Missouri. He was an army veteran, serving as Corporal in the Korean War. Arlie worked for the United States Post Office as a letter carrier from 1955 - 1989. He enjoyed sailing, traveling, reading, going to the Brass Armadillo, and collecting nostalgic memorabilia.
Arlie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ivan.
Arlie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty, of Independence, Missouri; a daughter Gaylyn and husband Ron of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter Lisa and husband Phil of Parkville, Missouri; 1 grandson, Jared and wife Amy; 4 granddaughters, Calli and husband David, Christine, Ashley, Jordyn; one great-grandson, James; and his sister-in-law Beverly Walker.
A Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Creighton United Methodist Church, 208 D Street, Creighton, Missouri 64739.
Cremation with inurnment in Grant Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri with Military Honors provided by the Harrisonville Honor Guard.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, Blue Ridge Blvd. Methodist Church memorial fund, or to the Creighton United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
