Bettie Hampton

August 25, 1926 — February 19, 2012

Bettie Francis Hampton of Garden City, Missouri was born August 25, 1926 in Harrisonville, Missouri the last surviving member of the children of James Alvin and Wally Emma (Ulbrich) Poisal. She went to her reward in heaven peacefully on February 19, 2012 with her son Dennis and daughter, Debbie at her side at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.
Bettie was part of the staff at Wetzel/Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Missouri for 35 years, first as a nurse’s aide and then at the age of 51 becoming an LPN. Bettie was an expert care giver. She volunteered for many years with the Harrisonville Red Cross. She was a lifelong resident of Garden City living all of her years on the family farm. Betty and the Poisal family were life long members of the United Methodist Church, Garden City, Missouri and served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Bettie also attended the United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, Missouri the last few years of her life.
Bettie will be sadly missed by her son, Dennis Hampton and wife, Yvette, Belton, Missouri; her daughter, Debbie L. Reith and husband, Jack, Punta Gorda, Florida; a grandson; three great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; nieces; nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with interment in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggests contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or to the United Methodist Church memorial fund, Garden City, Missouri.
