Mrs. Elizabeth Jean Betty Jackson of Garden City, Missouri was born March 26, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of William and Inez (Pickett) Ballenger. She departed this life Monday, June 25, 2007 at Adrian Manor Nursing Home, Adrian, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 29 days.
On September 18, 1943, Betty was united in marriage to Ivan Charles Jackson in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Betty was a member of New Covenant Fellowship in Garden City where she taught Sunday School and later taught Bible and Math at the Training Center Christian School until her retirement in 2004. She earlier assisted her husband, Ivan in his photography business and was employed as a nurse at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville, Missouri. Betty and Ivan had lived in San Francisco, California during World War II. Their first son, Michael Charles Jackson was born in 1946. They returned to Missouri and moved to Garden City where their second son, Rex Eugene Jackson was born in 1954 and Michelle Kathryn Jackson in 1957. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church, Garden City where she taught Sunday School. Betty loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan on August 21, 1997; a son, Mike on January 16, 1977; a grandson, Jeffrey Charles Jackson on August 19, 1966; brother, Ernest and an infant brother.
She is survived by a son, Rex E. Jackson, Harrisonville, Missouri; a daughter, Michelle Mickie Thurman and husband, Frank D., Archie, Missouri; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and another great-granddaughter on the way. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 29, 2007 at the New Covenant Fellowship, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Training Center Christian School.
