Beverly L. Borum

Beverly Lucile Borum, 78, of Urich, Missouri, was born April 19, 1940, the daughter of Truman Shelton and Virginia Hardisty Shelton in Maryville, Missouri. She departed this life peacefully on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at the family farm in Urich.

On March 14, 1964, Beverly was united in marriage to Russell Kelly Borum in Maryville, Missouri.

Beverly graduated from Quitman High School in Quitman, Missouri, in 1958. She received her Bachelor Degree in Business Education from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville in 1962. She would then spend her entire career in the Sherwood Cass R-8 School District, teaching high school business over 35 years, her first year being the last year Urich High School was open. After retiring in 1999, she still continued to substitute, teaching 56 years in all, spanning almost 4 generations of students. She enjoyed visiting with former students and kept up with everything going on in their lives. Beverly also enjoyed raising cattle, taking care of the horses, dogs and cats, and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed traveling short distances, as long as it didn’t interfere too much with her “chores”. Although she didn’t particularly enjoy cooking, she made award-winning pies and was always proud of her flaky crusts made with pure lard.

Beverly was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, Skidmore, Missouri chapter, and a member of the Urich American Legion Auxiliary, Henry County Election Committee, Urich Reunion Committee, and Heart of Life Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Schieber.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kelly Borum: three daughters, Renea Clippard and husband Dean of Urich, Missouri, Rhonda Tarpey and husband Dan of Wildwood, Missouri, and Terra Jane Salmon and Phillip of Creighton, Missouri: three grandchildren, Anna and Clara Tarpey, and Alex Clippard: a brother, Eugene Shelton of Belton, Missouri: many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service were held Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Heart of Life Church, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.

The family received friends December 30, 2018 at the church.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Care Hospice or to the Beverly Borum Scholarship Fund.
