Billy Edward Gough of Harrisonville, Missouri was born September 30, 1925 near Creighton, Missouri the son of Joseph Perry and Katy May (Page) Gough. He departed this life Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 13 days.
On September 29, 1947, Bill was united in marriage to Betty Lou Lash in Harrisonville.
Bill served as Sheriff of Cass County, Missouri for 16 years from 1969 until 1984. He served on the Cass County Commission as South District Commissioner for several years and later with the Cass County Juvenile Center and Cass County Zoning Office. Earlier, Bill was employed at Hallmark Cards and Western Electric. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Creighton, Missouri. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a member of Missouri Sheriff's Association, Cass County Democratic Association, Ararat Shrine, Kansas City, Missouri; a 60 year member of the Hurley Lee Spicer Post # 42 of the American Legion, Cass Masonic Lodge #147 A.F. & A.M. both of Harrisonville. Bill enjoyed his family, going to the lake, boating and fishing. He had lived in Creighton, Garden City, Missouri, Malta Bend, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville in 1960.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob J. Gough and an infant brother, Buddy.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Gough of the home; a son, Ron Gough and wife, Tela; two daughters, Vicki L. Todd and Valda K. Schoonover and husband, Larry all of Harrisonville; seven grandchildren, Andrea, Mark, Jim, Dan, Joe, Eli and Leah; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna M. Bryan and husband, Charles, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 16, 2007 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Cremation with inurnment in Grant Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
Family suggests contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
