William “Blaine” Whitworth was born on February 21, 1987 in Houston, Texas and departed this life on September 1, 2012 in Warrensburg, MO.
Blaine moved with his family in 1993 to the family farm in Garden City, MO. He attended Sherwood Cass RVIII in Creighton, Missouri, graduating in 2005. Growing up he played football, basketball, baseball and track. He was instrumental in bringing the sport of wrestling to Sherwood by organizing a petition and campaign to convince the School Board that this sport would give students who didn’t play basketball a chance to get involved. Blaine blazed the trail of Scouting from Tiger Cub to the rank of Eagle Scout with Cub and Boy Scout Troop 244. He attended Boy Scout Camp every year at H. Roe Bartle and became a Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church and was active in the youth group. He followed the family tradition of attending the University of Central Missouri, graduating in 2009 with a BS degree in Safety Management. At UCM, he was an Ambassador for Admissions working with new students. He loved playing intramural sports and being on campus. After a summer internship working on the BP operated Deepwater Horizon, he decided to pursue his career working as a Safety Advisor on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and Singapore. His love for Warrensburg brought him home to pursue his life dream to be a business owner and in September, 2011 he re-opened the well known bar, “Bodie’s”, but that wasn’t enough and in February, 2012, he opened another restaurant and bar and renamed it, Molly’s, in honor of his grandmother. Blaine had a love for his family, his friends, his employees and those less fortunate.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Blaine Famuliner and paternal grandparents, Bill and Cleo Whitworth.
Blaine is survived by his parents, Barry and Diane Whitworth of Garden City, 2 brothers, Tyler Whitworth and wife Melissa of Garden City, and Tucker Whitworth of Warrensburg, Missouri; 1 sister, Corby Suptic and husband Jim of Prairie Village, KS; grandmother, Molly Famuliner of Garden City; 2 nephews Chancey and Lane Whitworth and 2 nieces, Amelia and Talulah Suptic; also 2 uncles and aunts, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at "The Farm" 28710 S. St Rt 7, Garden City, Missouri. Interment in the Garden City Cemetery.
The family suggests contributions may be made to the Blaine Whitworth UCM Scholarship Fund, City Union Mission or to Boy Scout Troop #244, Garden City, Missouri.
