Mrs. Blanche Edith Reeves, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born February 2, 1917 in Hickory County near Gerster, Missouri the daughter of Clarence T. and Mollie M. (Roth) Gleason. At the age of 3, Blanche moved with her parents to Cass County, Missouri near the Garden City area. She departed this life Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 13 days.
On August 7, 1937, Blanche was united in marriage to Kenneth Weaver Reeves in Independence, Missouri. They moved to their farm north of Austin, Missouri in 1944 where she resided until October of 2009 before moving to Golden Years Care Services due to her stroke.
Blanche was active as a housewife helping out Kenneth however she could with the chores and the dairy farm. She was an active mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Austin Baptist Church. Blanche enjoyed growing flowers, watching and feeding the birds often referring to them as ?my birds?, and working on crossword puzzles. Blanche was always ready to help others in their time of need. To know her was to love her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth W. Reeves on January 8, 1997; three brothers, Alva, Robert, and Ernest Gleason; a sister, Nettie Byers, and an infant sister, Ruby Fern Gleason.
She is survived by two sons, Kermit Reeves and wife Beverly, Kent Reeves and wife Nadine all of Harrisonville, Missouri; five grandchildren, Clint Reeves, Clifford Reeves, Connie Meinsen, Karla Walsh, and Jim Reeves; 16 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Clearfork Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.
