Bobbie Rutter

September 22, 1946 — February 23, 2016

Roberta Jean “Bobbi” Rutter, 69 of Higginsville, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born, September 22, 1946, in Omak, Washington, the daughter of John R. and Lillian Bell (Atkinson) Miller. She departed this life at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at the Research Medical Center, Kansas City, surrounded with love and family. Bobbi was a 1964, Pleasant Hill High School graduate.
In October 1964, she was united in marriage to Ronald Ferguson in Pleasant Hill; they later divorced. On December 30, 1980, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Rutter in Miami, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on October 30, 2004.
Bobbi was also preceded in death by two brothers, Infant Michael Miller and John D. Miller.
She is survived by her parents, John and Lillian Miller of Pleasant Hill; one son Donnie ( and fiancé Christin Bohrsch) Ferguson of Springfield, Missouri; two daughters, Tina (and Gerald) Bender of Higginsville, and Rhonda Sue Ferguson of Pleasant Hill; two step-daughters, Terri Phillips of Mission, Kansas and Cristy (Steve) Chu of Kansas City; 1 brother, Thomas Miller of Carbondale, Illinois; 1 sister, Mary Ann (and Buddy) Lathrup of Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, other relatives, and host of many friends. She is also survived by her faithful dog, Leon.
Bobbi was employed at Gerbes for over 20 years. Her favorite position was being the Bakery Manager. She also was a waitress at Bob’s Café and was a manager at Hardee’s. She was a top Mary Kay Rep in Pleasant Hill for many years. Her hobbies included crafting, DIY home improvements, decorating cakes, and making dolls. She attended the Episcopalian Church in Harrisonville and later attended Grace United Methodist in Higginsville.
Visitation will be held 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Pastor Terry Cook of the Grace United Methodist Church, Higginsville. Honorary Casket bearers are Michael Gregory, Stephen Williams, Jacob Ferguson, John Corless, Dylan Corless and Max Chu. Cremation will be accorded following the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Meal on Wheels or the Ryun Relay Team both can be sent in care of the funeral home. Ryun Relay Team of Lafayette County represents the American Cancer Society and Bobbi’s granddaughter Kimberly Bender is a member of this team.
