Bobby Joe Morris of Harrisonville, Missouri was born June 23, 1937 in England, Arkansas the son of Elbert and Jewell Lee (Fur) Morris. He departed this life on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 25 days.
On June 7, 1957 Bobby was united in marriage to Mary Dell Romine in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bobby was employed 31 years for General Motors at the BPO Fairfax Plant, Kansas City, Kansas until his retirement on March 1, 1993 and later was employed at New Castle Homes, Harrisonville where he flagged and set up modular homes. He was a Marine veteran. Bobby was a faithful member of Abiding Love Baptist Church, Harrisonville where he served as deacon and member of the choir, a member of Local #31 UAW. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, yard work, putting out a big garden, traveling and blue grass music. Bobby will be remembered for being a great husband and for his wit. He had moved to Harrisonville in 1978.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thomas, Jerry and James Morris.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Mary D. Morris of the home; a son, Gary Morris, St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren, Travis, Zachary and Jessica; seven great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Kenneth Pettit; two sisters, Sharon Hearing and Kathy Pettit all of Ola, Arkansas; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Abiding Love Baptist Church Building Fund, Harrisonville, Missouri.
