Mrs. Bonnie Ruth Thomas, Harrisonville, Missouri, was born July 14, 1959 in Harrisonville the daughter of Carl Leo and Helen Elizabeth (Moss) Stephens. She departed this life Thursday, February 16, 2012 at her home near Harrisonville at the age of 52 years, 7 months and 2 days. On January 7, 1976, Bonnie was united in marriage to Lacey Herrell Thomas in Harrisonville, Missouri. Bonnie was a contractor for painting and cleaning rental properties. She attended New Covenant Fellowship, Garden City and attended Urich and Garden City Elementary and the Sherwood High School. Bonnie loved to crochet and enjoyed learning new crochet stitches and patterns. She loved all animals and spent a lot of time and energy feeding the stray cats in the area and was known as the “cat lady” by her family. Bonnie’s greatest love was spending time with family especially her grandson, Chase. She was preceded in death by her parents. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Lacey Thomas of the home; a son, Christopher Brian Thomas and wife Crystal, Adrian, Missouri; 2 grandsons, Chase and Corban Thomas; three brothers, Billy Stephens, Garden City, Missouri, Albert Stephens, Drexel, Missouri, Danny Stephens, Harrisonville, Missouri; seven sisters, Janet Smith, Adrian, Missouri, Carolyn Flanery, Harrisonville, Missouri, Nancy Bohannon, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Barbara Stephens, Belton, Missouri, Becky Hale and Bernie Hester, Garden City, Missouri, Ann Bounds, Rogers, Arkansas.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Burial will be in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
The family suggest the memorial contributions may be made to the Bonnie Thomas Memorial Fund.
