On November 12, 2011, the Dobson family lost their Project Hero, Buddie Lee Dobson, husband of 52 years to Shirley, Raytown, Mo.; dad to Tammy (Michelle), Kansas City, Mo., and Kent (Julie), Raytown, Mo.; grandpa to Brandon (Samantha), Lakewood, Co., and Victoria Ramos (Alvaro), Topeka, KS; and "great" grandpa to Bethany Dobson and soon to be Leonardo Ramos. Dad was always there for us, no matter what.
His hobby was working and he adored working on projects for his family with many building, room addition and remodeling projects to his credit. After his family, his greatest passion was working as a lineman. Buddie served in the Army Reserves where he learned to climb poles. He worked a short time for a rural phone company and later the City of Harrisonville before moving to Raytown to work as a lineman for Missouri Public Service. In 1969, Buddie went to work for KCPL where he retired as Supervisor of High Voltage Transmission after 31 years. He then retired for a second and third time from PAR Electric after several years. Buddie and his two teammates were Grand Champions of the first Annual Lineman's Rodeo.
Born November 30, 1938, he was raised on farms in the Cass County area, graduating from Harrisonville High School.
Buddie was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Dobson, in 2009.
He is also survived by his father, Frank Dobson, Pleasant Hill, Mo., two sisters, Margaret Bricker and Dorothy Homan, both of Pleasant Hill, Mo., great-nephew Shaun Muncy, Ottawa, KS, and many other extended family members.
The family will receive friends at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Mo. from 9:30-10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, November 16, with graveside service at 11 a.m. at Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the Community Blood Center or American Cancer Society.
