Calvin D. Taber Sr.

Calvin Dwain Taber Sr. of Kansas City, Missouri was born July 16, 1947 in Arroll, Missouri the son of William Issac ?Bill? and Opal Ann (Sowders) Taber. He departed this life on Monday, June 21, 2010 at his home in Kansas City surrounded by his family at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 5 days.
On April 14, 1989, Cal was united in marriage to Janet Key Whitsitt in Independence, Missouri
Cal was employed as a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways, Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1991. He was earlier employed for 27 years, for Manley Truck Lines, Kansas City. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a Mason, a member of Paralyzed Veterans of America and Teamsters Local 41 both of Kansas City Missouri. Cal had been in poor health for many years and maintained a positive attitude and always put others before himself.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Rowdy Taber; a sister, Ida Lou Taber; 10 half-brothers and sisters.
Cal is survived by three sons, Calvin Taber and wife, Amy, West Line, Missouri, Bobby Taber and wife, Kathy, Harrisonville, Missouri, David Kagarice and wife, Bonni, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; a daughter, Angie Taber, Kansas City, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Lauren, Colin, Cassie, Ashton, Cheyenne, Amber, Michael, Tiffany and Cody; his father-in-law, G.W. Whitsitt; a brother, John Taber, Garden City, Missouri; three sisters, Verna Woolsey, Mountain View, Missouri, Connie Morgan, Freeman, Missouri, Mary Shirley, Kansas City, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with Burial at the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland Hospice.
