Carol Ann Blum, 60, of Belton, was born December 20, 1955, in Kansas City, the daughter of Kenneth L., Sr. and Dorothy M. (Comer) Thorp. She departed this life at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016, at her home surrounded with love and family.
Carol was a 1974 Raytown High School graduate.
On August 8, 1978, she was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Blum in Miami, Oklahoma. They renewed their vows 10 years later in the Catholic Church.
Carol was a Dispersing Auditor for Hallmark Cards retiring in 2011 after 38 years of service. She was active with the Cass County Juvenile Justice, the Girl Scouts, and the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She loved traveling, hosting parties, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the St. Sabina Catholic Church in Belton.
Carol was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Thorp of Pleasant Hill; her husband, Ken Blum of Belton; one son, Chris (and Stephanie) Blum of Grandview; one daughter, Missey Blum of Pleasant Hill; one brother, Kenny Thorp, Jr. of Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren, Jaydin Blum, Lilly Blum, and Haley Williamson; other relatives and a host of many friends.
The Recitation of the Rosary was held Friday, March 18, 2016, at the St. Bridget Catholic Church where visitation followed until service time.
Mass of Christian burial was held Friday, March 18, 2016, at the St. Bridget Catholic Church (2103 Lexington Rd., Pleasant Hill). Monsignor Robert Murphy will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following mass with inurnment in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date.
The family invites everyone to wear bright colors in memory of Carol.
Services are under the care of Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mayo Clinic and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
