Carol Sites

February 14, 1944 — August 29, 2014

Carol Lee Sites, 70, of Harrisonville, MO, passed away on August 29, 2014 at Research Medical Center. She was preceded in death by parents Roy Lee and Alice Evangeline Depew and husband Everett Sites. She is survived by son Darren and Susan Sites of Olathe, KS; daughter Johnna and Sean O’Brien and grandson Brayden Carver of Harrisonville, MO; sister Judi Johnson of Creighton, MO; brother Robert and Sharon Depew of Urich, MO; sister Alice and Larry Zoellers of Garden City, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Carol was born at home on February 14, 1944 in Urich, MO, where she was raised. She graduated from Urich High School in 1961. She married Everett (Fuzz) Sites in 1963 and they were together for 48 years until his death in 2011. Carol had many jobs over the years including working for Montgomery Ward’s and Garden City Bank, but her most important role was being a Mom. Carol’s life was devoted to her family. She was a nurturing mother who created a loving home for her two children and husband. The only thing Carol loved more than being a mother was being a grandmother. For the last 10 years, she spent as much time as she could with her beloved grandson, Brayden. Anyone who walked into Carol’s home would be greeted by an impressive display of Brayden’s photos covering the walls (which we fondly teased her was “Brayden’s shrine.”) One of Carol’s favorite pastimes was watching sports on TV. She also enjoyed reading books and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.
Carol will be deeply missed by her family. Join us to celebrate her life. Visitation was held at Dickey Funeral Home, 711 Old Highway 7, Garden City, MO, on Wed., Sept. 3, 2014 with a memorial service.
