Charles A. "Chuck" Champ of Harrisonville, Missouri was born March 12, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Pearl Asbury and Florence (Bowlin) Champ. He departed this life on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by love and family at the age of 78 years and 12 days.

On November 13, 1964 Chuck was united in marriage to Jerry Ann Mays in Kansas City, Missouri.

Chuck was employed as a small engine mechanic for The Family Center, Harrisonville, Missouri until his retirement in 1987. He earlier was employed at Pfizer and Bakan Plastics in Lee's Summit, Missouri and for Lockeed as a sheet metal machinist at Richards-Gebaur AFB in Grandview, Missouri. Chuck was a proud member of the NRA, he enjoyed hot rod cars, fishing, hunting, target practice shooting, restoring guns and was a huge John Wayne fan. He was a 1956 graduate of Collins, Missouri High School and had lived in Collins, Kansas City, Harrisonville and Archie, Missouri before moving back to Harrisonville in 2016.

Besides his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother, William and his two sisters, Marie and Annabelle.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Jerry Champ of the home; a son, Tom Mays and wife, Retta, Freeman, Missouri; a daughter, Diana L. Jones, Independence, Missouri; four grandchildren, Craig, Nathan, Marissa and Sarah; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Benjamin; a sister, Retta Jerrell, North Kansas City, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Cremation.
