Charles Edward Coakley of Harrisonville, Missouri was born April 14, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Charles E. and Elizabeth (Nordstrom) Coakley. He departed this life Sunday, March 2, 2008 at his home in Harrisonville at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 18 days.
On November 29, 1967, Charles was united in marriage to Shirley Louise (Allen) Horton in Kansas City, Missouri.
Charles was employed as a custodian for the Harrisonville Cass-R School District, Harrisonville until his retirement in 1998. He was an Air Force veteran and a member the Living Church of God, Kansas City, Missouri. He was a 1957 graduate of Northeast High School, Kansas City and had attended 2 years of Junior College. He had lived in Kansas City, Kansas before moving to Harrisonville in 1973.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark C. Coakley on December 27, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley L. Coakley of the home; three sons, Terry R. Horton and wife, Sue, Salina, Kansas, Kevin R. Horton and wife, Laurie, Kansas City, Missouri, Paul A. Coakley and wife, Paula, Belton, Missouri; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Coakley and wife, Janet, Independence, Missouri; other relatives and many frien
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assosciation.
