Charles E. Eagleburger

Charles Edward Eagleburger, 86, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri was born April 2, 1928, near Marshfield, Missouri to Orval C. and Lema Jane (Vinyard) Eagleburger. He departed this life Sunday, June 22, 2014, at his home surrounded with love and family.
Charles graduated from Willard High School in Willard, Missouri and was a decorated veteran of the Korean War, earning two Purple Hearts.
On October 19, 1952, he was united in marriage to Gloria Rahe Goldsmith in Springfield, Missouri. They enjoyed nearly 62 years of marriage.
Charles was employed as a truck driver for Frisco Trucking early in his career. He later went to work for Bendix, retiring from there in 1973. While working for Bendix, he worked part time for the Jackson School Bus Service. In his retirement, he enjoyed a second career driving gravel trucks, aiding in the construction of buildings throughout the Kansas City area.
In his spare time Charles loved fishing, trap shooting, camping (traveling to every state except Oregon), but most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He restored and showed two vintage John Deere tractors as a member of the Greater Kansas City Two-Cylinder Club.
Charles is survived by his best friend and loving wife Gloria of the home; two sons, Steven (and Debbie) Eagleburger of Blue Springs, and Kevin (and Becky) Eagleburger of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren, Andy (and Schona) Eagleburger, and Sharon Eagleburger all of Blue Springs, Matthew (and Natalie) Eagleburger of Durham, North Carolina; and Michael (and Roisin) Eagleburger of Columbia, Missouri; four great grandchildren; Wyatt, Carsten, Ainsley, and Marian; six brothers; three sisters; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church will officiate. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Army and the Pleasant Hill V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers are Andy Eagleburger, Blake Eagleburger, Brent Eagleburger, Bruce Eagleburger, Matthew Eagleburger, and Michael Eagleburger.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Vitas Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
