Cheryl A. Sites loving wife, mother, sister, Nanny, aunt, and friend passed away on December 9, 2012 at the age of 60 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family at her passing.
Cheryl was born to William and Paula Gary in Livermore, California on October 15, 1952. She was raised in the Butler and Rich Hill, Missouri area and attended Rich Hill High School.
On October 24, 1970 Cheryl married Michael E. Sites in Creighton, Missouri. Shortly thereafter Cheryl and Mike relocated to Leeton, Missouri, where they raised their daughters, Angie and Annette.
Cheryl was employed as a seamstress at Unifemme in Warrensburg, Missouri for many years and was active in the Leeton community where she taught Sunday school and served on the City Council. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Cheryl’s hobbies included sewing, cooking, fishing, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, who were Nanny’s pride and joy. Her family looked forward to her innovative recipes at family gatherings and she could always be counted on to create last minute Halloween costumes and party dresses as well as baby blankets and other crafts.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Michael E. Sites; daughters Angela Williams and husband Bob, Annette Hendrickson and husband Russ; grandchildren Brett and Lyndsay Cox, Russell and Shelbi Hendrickson, and Bobby Williams; sisters Donna Barnett, Marsha Waldron, and Pam Fellin, brothers Bill Gary, Jr. and Paul Gary; a multitude of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family and friends. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents.
Together, Mike and Cheryl provided endless support and a safe haven for those in need. Cheryl will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her and will be remembered as a source of strength and unconditional love.
The family would like to thank everyone for the prayers and support during Cheryl’s courageous battle.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Grant Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
