Clara Ogg

Clara was born December 8, 1907 near Creighton, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence Henry and Clara Belva (Little) Ruckel. She departed this life March 16, 2007 in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Clara attended Highland School and high school at Garden City, Missouri. Her education continued with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Central Missouri State College and graduate work at the University of Missouri and Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. Clara taught school for 25 years in the Creighton and Richmond, Missouri areas.
On December 22, 1944, Clara married J. Carney Ogg, a Richmond farmer. After his death in 1954, she became a Home Economist with the University Missouri Extension Service in Albany and Savannah, Missouri.
Clara retired to Harrisonville, Missouri and became involved in club work and community organizations such as: Community Betterment Association, United Way, Red Cross, Cass Medical Center Auxiliary and the Cass County Historical Society. She was active in the Mary Sibley Chapter DAR, Federated Women's Club, Cass County Retired Teachers Association, National Association of Federal Employees and the United Methodist Church. She received the Woman of the Year award in both Harrisonville and Albany. Clara was often recognized for her work in various organizations. She felt it necessary to keep busy and always had a calendar filled up.
Clara enjoyed traveling as she went to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and the British Isles. Special trips were made with her three sisters. These trips were entitled The Flight of the Hens. Family was important to Clara. She took pride in her nieces and nephews and the events in their lives. She was know as Aunt Kay to them.
Clara was a talented person with skills in painting, sewing and cooking. Family members cherish her china painting pieces.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Mary Koch and Harriett Jenkins; a step-daughter, Jean Ogg; a niece Rae Ann Sitzes; nephews, Robert and Jacob Sitzes.
She is survived by her sister, Rachel Sitzes, Sikeston, Missouri; nephews, J.R. Koch, Creighton, Missouri, Jerry Jenkins, Garden City, Missouri and Edward Sitzes, Bracketville, Texas, nieces Mary Carol Thornburg, Creighton, Missouri and Susan McDonald, Eagle River, Alaska; 17 great-nieces and nephews; 21 great-great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with interment in the Parker Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
