Claudine Elizabeth Arnold of Garden City, Missouri was born on September 1, 1923 at the family home near Garden City. She was the daughter of Claude Lee and Calesta Elizabeth (Ebersole) Morrow and was a 1941 graduate of Harrisonville High School. She departed this life February 19, 2012 at her home near Garden City at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 18 days.
On February 7, 1943, Claudine was united in marriage to Robert Arnold in Harrisonville.
Claudine was a homemaker, farm wife, and a school baker at Sherwood and Harrisonville Elementary School. She retired from baking full-time at the age of 86. Earlier she worked at Harrisonville Hotel, Garden City Snack Shop, and Halmark Cards. Claudine was a member of Daugherty United Methodist Church until it closed and then became a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church and was currently serving as the President of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they participated in sports and many other activities. Claudine had a passion for baking, Bible study, sending cards, and helping others. She was well-known by her family and friends for her cinnamon rolls, angel food cake, and many more wonderful dishes.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Arnold.
Claudine is survived by two daughters, Sharon Poisal (Virgil) of Harrisonville and Cheryl Huffman of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Bob Poisal (Kris), Betsy Kitchen (Todd), and Shereen Taheri; 7 great-grandchildren: Devon Mansfield, Jessica Poisal, Kylee Mansfield, Kurt Poisal, Jake Poisal, Krede Kitchen, and Keastin Kitchen; and many other relatives and friends.
Claudine is best described by this verse from a Sherwood school publication: Claudine is a tiger, a tornado in disguise; she chops, slices, peels, makes the best pies; nothing can defeat her; she keeps things spic and span; when someone questions, “Can we?” She says “Sure we can.”
Funeral services were held Friday, February 24, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Garden City, Missour with burial in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City. Final arrangements entrusted to Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Garden City, Missouri Memorial Fund.
