Clyde Leonard Fairbanks, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born October 23, 1949 in Onaga, Kansas the son of Frank Leonard and Opal Rachel (Sutton) Fairbanks. He departed this life on Monday, February 24, 2014 at his home surrounded by love and family at the age of 64 years, 4 months and 1 day.
On June 30, 1990, Clyde was united in marriage to Candy Marie Matthew in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Clyde was employed as a mill wright and maintenance mechanic for KCP&L, Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of the South Fork Baptist Church near Drexel, Missouri, Amsterdam Shriner Lodge and the IBEW Local #412, Kansas City. Clyde enjoyed hunting, woodworking, building crosses to spread the Word of God and was affectionately known as the “professional TV watcher” to his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Tristin R. Fairbanks; a sister, Angela Gonzales; sister-in-law, Patsy C. Fairbanks; mother and father-in-law, Lelah M. and Andy B. Matthew.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Candy M. Fairbanks of the home; three children, Stephanie A. McGirl and husband, Gene, Warrensburg, Missouri, Pamela K. Ferguson and husband Cory, Harrisonville, Missouri and Clyde E. Fairbanks Jr. and wife Mandy, Peculiar, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Ariel, Griffin, Daniel and Lorelei; a great-granddaughter, Emery; a brother, Frank L. Fairbanks, Ithaca, Michigan; sister-in-laws, Ruth A. Matthew, Glynis D. Arnall and a brother-in-law, Randy R. Matthew all of Harrisonville, Missouri. Through the years, Clyde gained several honorary family members.
Funeral service were held Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Cremation to follow the service.
