Darlene Joyce Hackerott

Darlene Joyce Hackerott, 79, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, was born, February 4, 1938, in Madison, South Dakota, the daughter of Elmer C. and Caroline (Sommers) Uthe. She departed this life, Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded with love and family.
Darlene was a 1956 Madison General High School graduate.
On August 9, 1955, she was united in marriage to Edward H. Hackerott in Madison, South Dakota.
Darlene was a homemaker. She was an active and devoted member of the Lutheran Church; volunteering extensively in the various church children’s programs. She was a member of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Lee’s Summit. She and Ed were avid travelers, traveling the entire United States in their 5th wheel. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bob Uthe and Alvie Uthe; and two sisters, Rosie Haak and Donna Hupp.
She is survived by her husband Edward of Lee’s Summit; two daughters, Teresa (and Robert) Wright of Overland Park, Kansas, and Karen (and Matt) Hoyes of Lee’s Summit; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Ruggles of Los Angeles, California, Angela (and Travis) Ruggles-Hayes of Olathe, Kansas, Matthew (and Dawn) Lynch of Grain Valley, Missouri, Melissa Lynch of Lee’s Summit, and Morgan Lynch of Sedalia, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kristina, Kashe, Lily, and Bentley; two brothers, Ron (and Kitty) Uthe of Madison, and Jim (and Mary) Uthe of Watertown, South Dakota; one sister, Eleanor Brown of Brookings, South Dakota; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 615 SE Todd George Pkwy., Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64063. Reverend Jon Gruen will officiate.
Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Children’s Ministry and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Final arrangements are under the care of Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
