Derrick enjoyed painting and drawing, shopping, helping people and was a kind and caring person. He liked to tinker on things and figuring out how things worked. He is s lifelong area resident of Harrisonville, Missouri.
Derrick is survived by his mother, Cynthia D. Hopkins of Harrisonville, Missouri; his father and step-mother, Danny and Tina Harris of Garden City, Missouri; a brother, Jacob Burns (Kierstin Long); two sisters; Brandi Harris of Arkansas and Christina Harris of Garden City, Missouri; paternal grandparents, Dean and Delores Harris of Garden City, Missouri; his companion, Andrea Klinge; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Burial was in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
The family received friends Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the funeral home.
