Delores J. “Dee” Freeman, 86, of Lee’s Summit, was born, May 18, 1929, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles and Anna Mae (Gebhart) Everhart. She departed this life at 5:25 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2016, at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded with love and family.
On March 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Ralph Freeman in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1978.
Delores was a homemaker. She enjoyed crafting, ceramics, making cards, and gardening. She was an avid genealogist and was a member of the Genealogical Society. She had lifelong ties to Christ the King parish, Kansas City.
Delores was also preceded in death by her parents; 9 siblings; and one son, Michael Freeman on January 9, 1999.
She is survived by one son, Lawrence (and Catherine) Freeman of Olathe, Kansas; one daughter, Tina (and Scott) Dotson of Pleasant Hill; 8 grandchildren, Erik (and Maja) Freeman of Overland Park, Brett (and Ary) Freeman of Olathe, Courtney Dotson, Brooke Dotson, Rachel Dotson, Victoria Dotson, Bridget Dotson, and Emily Dotson, all of Pleasant Hill; three great grandchildren Emma, Donovan, and Austin; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held with the Recitation of the Rosary on Friday February 26, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, February 26, 2016, at Christ the King Catholic Church (8510 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64114). Father Gregory Lockwood will officiate. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City. Casket bearers are Scott Dotson, Eddie Everhart, Brett Freeman, Erik Freeman, Daniel Fugitt, and Wade Fugitt.
The family held a No Meat, Pot luck reception immediately following the internment at Christ the King Catholic Church hall.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
