Doris Jean Weide of Garden City, Missouri was born September 9, 1930 in Holden, Missouri the daughter of Osha Lee and Anna May (Mansell) Hampton. She departed the life on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville, Missouri surrounded by her children and family at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 18 days.
In 1949 Doris was united in marriage to Donald L. Poisal and later married Uel LaVerne Weide on June 23, 1969 in Clinton, Missouri. Doris was a homemaker and a 1949 graduate of Garden City High School. She loved to talk about her childhood on the farm, helping her brother, Bob do the milking and her father in the field. Fried chicken was her specialty and in her younger years she enjoyed canning vegetables from the family garden. Doris never missed a garage sale or taking in all of the garage sales along the road and going to the Dollar Store. During the growing season, Doris would not miss helping Alvin “run his community market.” She enjoyed talking to all of the customers and buying something from all of the vendors. Doris loved her yard and yard ornaments especially angels. She enjoyed her special time with her granddaughter, Monica taking the “old ladies” to Clinton and eating at Pizza Glen. Besides her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Uel; her daughter, Kathy Joan; three brothers, Melvin, Virgil and Bob Hampton; two sisters, Edith Courtney and Nora Gudde. Doris is survived by 3 sons, Virgil Poisal (Sharon) Harrisonville, MO, Melvin Poisal (Shirley) and Alvin Poisal (Connie) all of Garden City, MO; 2 daughters, Janice Brindle, Belton, MO, Holly Morris, Creighton, MO; 16 grandchildren; 29 gt-grandchildren; 2 gt-gt-grandchildren; 3 sister in laws, Annie Hampton, Colorado Springs, CO, Maxine Kile, Greedwood, MO, Margaret Irvine, Pittsville, MO. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City,Missouri. Burial will be in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
The family received friends Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Team at the United Methodist Church, Garden City, Missouri.
