Mrs. Dorothy Jean Flippin of Harrisonville, Missouri was born April 27, 1931 in Clinton, Missouri the daughter of Jesse and Mayme (Dunham) Jackson. She departed this life on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at her home surrounded by love and family at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 21 days.
On January 6, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage to Alvin Gene Flippin in Clinton, Missouri.
Dorothy was a homemaker. A faithful member of the Freeman Baptist Church, Freeman, Missouri. She enjoyed the simple things in life. Her priority in life was to take care of Alvin, her children and the rest of her family. Dorothy had lived in Clinton, Hartwell, Missouri and Stilwell, Kansas before moving to Harrisonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jesse Jackson and Bob Maddox; two sisters, Sandra Benenate and June Maddox.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Alvin G. Flippin of the home; two sons, Stanley Flippin, Harrisonville, Missouri, Mark Flippin (Debbie) Selah, Washington; two daughters, Donna Woolery (Clifford), Harrisonville, Missouri, Sharon Wright (Steve), Harrisonville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral service were held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Freeman Baptist Church, Freeman, Missouri with burial in the Freeman Cemetery.
