Edgar Leroy Wright of Garden City, Missouri was born April 1, 1930 in Mount Zion, Missouri the son of Clarence Beeson and Anna Alice (Payne) Wright. He departed this life on Monday, March 18, 2013 surrounded by love and family at Vitas Hospice Care, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 17 days.
On October 19, 1963 Ed was united in marriage to Dixie Louise Jordan in Independence, Missouri.
Ed was employed in the service department for Missouri Gas Service Company in Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1991 after 40 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Ed enjoyed his family and grandchildren. He was an avid gardner, enjoyed camping at the lake and watching TV. He had lived in the Medford Community, South of Holden, Missouri before moving to Garden City in 1967.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William and James; five sisters, Winnie, Mildred, Pauline, Betty and Patsy.
Ed is survived by his wife, Dixie L. Wright of the home; two sons, John Wright and wife, Penny, Osage Beach, Missouri, Bill Wright and wife, Lana, Harrisonville, Missouri; four daughters, Linda VanCleave and husband, David, Harrisonville, Missouri, Debbie Strain, Buffalo, Missouri, Cindy Bathgate and husband, Jeff, Garden City, Missouri, Cathy Richardson and husband, Chris, Harrisonville, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Calvin Wright, Independence, Missouri; a sister, Peggy Sue Jamison, Wellsville, Kansas; other relatives and a host of friends.
A graveside service was held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Medford Cemetery, Holden, Missouri.
Family will received friends Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
