Edward G. Beecham

July 23, 1921 — May 26, 2015

Edward Beecham 93, passed away peacefully with family at his side in Harrisonville, Missouri. Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and was so proud of each and every one.
Ed was born in Florence, Texas and moved with his family to the Greenwood & Milltown, Arkansas areas as a young boy. Ed only completed the eighth grade but that did not let that deter him. Ed worked at the State Hospital in Boonville, Arkansas as an X-Ray technician. This is where he met his wife Ida Gardner, who was a nurse. They were married in Greenwood, Arkansas by a Justice of the Peace on December 7, 1942. They have been married 72 years.
He began a successful business in 1959; “Ed’s Radiator Repair” in Kansas City, Missouri. This business included both his sons and son-in-law working for him for many years. His wife was considered the “business ambassador”. He continued repairing radiators after retirement in Urich, Missouri until he was 91 years old. Ed and Ida moved to Harrisonville, Missouri in 2013 and enjoyed visiting with the neighbors in their senior housing community and attending church at Eagle Creek Harrisonville, and Crossroads Assembly of God.
Ed leaves his wife of the home, Ida (Gardner) Beecham after 72 years of marriage; sons Ron Beecham and Donna of Baldwin City, Kansas; Dan Beecham of Urich, Missouri; and daughter Judy Mills and Roy of Garden City, Missouri; and 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren and a third on the way.
Ed was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Jill Beecham of Urich, Missouri, and two great grandchildren, Sydney Nicole Williams and Madilyn Coy Barnett; and brothers Raymond & George Beecham; and sisters Buelah Pendegraft, Eula Martin, and Marie Gilmore all of Greenwood, Arkansas; and sister Alta Wagner of Waldron, Arkansas.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice who helped with every aspect of the last precious days with Ed. We are forever grateful to them and to the Cass Regional Medical Center staff.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.
