Edward J. (“Ed”) Winter of Garden City, MO (70 years, 5 months, 17 days) began his new life in heaven on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 5:59 p.m. Ed was born on January 21, 1944 in the back of a hearse near Trenton, MO to Fredrick William and Christina Mae (Compton) Winter. He was united into marriage with his wife, Frannie, of nearly 50 years on January 31, 1965.
Ed was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He attended Schuyler School and graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1962. He attended college at Central Missouri State University and Arkansas PolyTech College. He then entered the workforce working for Gulf Chemical Company and PBI-Gordon Corporation. After nearly 30 years of employment with PBI-Gordon Corporation he retired and enjoyed investing in rental properties.
Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, as well as being in the outdoors, spending much time tending to his yard, camping with friends and family and with his dogs. He enjoyed the details in life – statistics about everything from his own medical stats to learning about his Lord and Savior. Ed was saved in his youth and baptized. He was a founding member of the Berean Fellowship in Garden City, MO.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Gerald L. “Jerry” Winter) and a grandson (Dalton Wheeler).
He is survived by his wife, LaFrances “Frannie” Winter; two sons John (Vickie) Winter and Bryan (Michelle Wheeler) Winter; two daughters Sally (Jim) Bradley and Cammie (Joseph) Shaffer, all of Garden City, MO; 12 grandchildren, Travis Beasley, Eric (Jennifer) Beasley, Annde’ (Tim) Berryman, John Michael (Sabrina) Winter, Jessica Brownson, Cory Pastorino, Whitney Winter, Emilee Wheeler, Blake Shaffer, Wyatt Winter, Maranda Shaffer, and Gabe Winter; and nine great-grandchildren, Emmalee Sartain, Chase Beasley, McKenna Beasley, Kaitlyn Beasley, Aaden Beasley, Bentley Winter, and Kinzley Winter; two expected great-grandbabies Baby Wheeler and Baby Berryman; one brother William (Kay) Winter, sisters-in-law Judy Winter, Ann (Russ) Day, Shirley (Harold) Kershner and Robin (Larry) Smith; and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with inurnment in the Buckley Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.
