Edwin E. Walker

Edwin Estes Walker Jr., of Garden City, Missouri, was born June 17, 1926 in Turner, Kansas, the son of Edwin Estes Sr. and Maudie Mae (Simmons) Walker. He departed this life Sunday, November 4, 2007, at his home near Garden City, Missouri at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 17 days.
On December 19, 1969, Ed was united in marriage to Margie L. Creach in Claycomo, Missouri.
Ed was a hoisting engineer employed by the Operating Engineer 101, Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1986. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Ed was a life member of the VFW Post #4409, American Legion Post #42 and the Harrisonville Honor Guard where he considered it a great honor to perform at the funerals of his departed comrades. He loved to fish and shoot pool with his friend Jerry or anyone else who would take the challenge.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Caroline Rutter; a grandson, Sherman Bishop; a granddaughter, Terri Lindsey and his dear friend J.R. Newberry.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Walker of the home; his children, Larry Walker and wife Raye, Portland, Oregon, Eddie Walker and wife Debbie, Shawn Walker all of Kansas City, Kansas, Jay Walker and wife Becky, Peculiar, Missouri, Eric Walker of the home, John Bishop and wife Anita, Michael Bishop and Jeffrey Bishop and wife Theresa all of Kansas City, Kansas; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; an uncle, Luther Simmons, Pleasanton, Kansas; an aunt, Ethel Carl, Center, Texas; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home with burial in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri.
