Ellsworth Copeland

Ellsworth Elmer Copeland, of Urich, Missouri was born April 3, 1917 in Safe, Missouri, the son of Alfred Martin and Dinah Viola (Wentzel) Copeland. He departed this life Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home, Waverly, Kansas at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 25 days.
On September 21, 1941, Ellsworth was united in marriage to Ruth Bernice Ryan in Clinton, Missouri.
Ellsworth was a farmer and stockman until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Lucas United Methodist Church near Urich, Missouri. Ellsworth loved to spend time in the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He had lived in Urich and Appleton City, Missouri before moving to Waverly, Kansas in October 2006.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Copeland on November 26, 2002; two brothers, Edgar and Robert Copeland and two sisters, Opal and Thelma Copeland.
He is survived by a son, Richard Copeland and wife Kim, Topeka, Kansas; two daughters, Joan Copeland, Appleton City, Missouri, Lois Copeland, Waverly, Kansas; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the White Oak Cemetery near Urich, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Ballard School.
