Elmer Olive Hines

November 13, 1936 — September 2, 2021

Elmer Olive Hines, 84, of Creighton, Missouri, was born November 13, 1936, the son of Olive Hines and Evelyn Sample Hines in Mountain View, Missouri. He departed this life peacefully at home on Thursday, September 2, 2021.
Elmer graduated from Summersville High School in Summersville, Missouri in 1955. He served in the Army National Guard from 1958-1962. On May 25, 1963, Elmer was united in marriage to Christine Parker in Laramie, Wyoming. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2019.
Elmer and Chris lived and worked in Foxpark, Wyoming until April 1966 when they moved to Creighton. They became parents to their first daughter, Lura LeAnne, in November 1966. Lisa Annette, joined the family in December 1969. They became members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Creighton in 1966.
After five years at Lake City Ammunition, layoffs led to Elmer working as a mechanic and then in construction before his occupation as a cabinet maker at Creighton Cabinet Shop starting in 1975 until his retirement in 1998. Elmer was a master of many skills and could build and repair almost anything.
Elmer was an avid bowler and fisherman. He also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and watching old Westerns and Bob Ross – The Joy of Painting. Elmer was a kind and compassionate man of few words, but when he spoke, what he had to say was worth listening to.
Elmer’s most cherished role was being a father and grandfather. Lisa blessed him with two beautiful granddaughters, Jordan Lee in 1996 and Melaina Christine in 1998. Elmer treasured spending time with all his girls. He made countless pancakes and loaves of bread, played ball and board games, took them fishing and attended their ballgames. Hearing Elmer say “I love you too, Shug” is forever impressed on their hearts.
Besides his wife and parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Hockman; and his daughter, Lisa Salmon.
Elmer is survived by his daughter, LeAnne Salmon and husband Terry of Creighton; two granddaughters, Jordan Salmon and Melaina Salmon of Peculiar, MO; brother, Donald Hines of Houston, MO; brother-in-law, Robert Parker and wife Shirley of Prosser, WA; brother-in-law Dwain Hockman and wife Patty, of Mountain View, MO; dear friends that were like daughters, Paula Mueller, Teresa Duncan and Diana DeWitt; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
