Elven Kasper ?Gus? Bauman of Belton, Missouri was born December 21, 1926 in Oskaloosa, Kansas the son of Elven Kasper and Verna Willeta (Lambert) Bauman Sr. He departed this life on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore, Raymore, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 13 days.
On August 21, 1949, Gus was united in marriage to Doris Evelyn Johnson in Ainsworth, Nebraska.
Gus was an attorney for the Bauman Law Office in Belton, Missouri for the past 20 years. Earlier he was employed for the United States Department of Agriculture, Belton, Missouri as a safety specialist until his retirement in 1982 and did bio-medical research for Mid-West Research, Kansas City, Missouri. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of the Colonial United Church of Christ, Prairie Village, Kansas; American Chemical Society; Missouri Bar Association; Kansas City Guitar Society and was a Mason. Gus graduated for the University of Nebraska in 1954 and received his law degree from Washington University School of Law, Washington, D.C. in 1986. He was a private pilot, enjoyed playing classical guitar and doing scientific glass blowing.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl.
He is survived by his wife, Doris E. Bauman of the home; two sons, William E. Bauman and wife, Janet, Belton, Missouri, Robert J. Bauman and wife, Pat, Bradenton, Florida; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee Bauman and wife, Mary, Colorado Springs, Colorado; other relatives and many friends.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Colonial United Church of Christ,7039 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, Kansas. Cremation.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Society or to the American Heart Association.
