Ernie Ramsey, 64, of Harrisonville, MO, went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2012. He was born September 16, 1947 in Kansas City, MO to Les and Edna (Winger) Ramsey. At an early age, Ernie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a member of the First Baptist Church of East Lynne. He graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1965.
On October 19, 1965, Ernie was united in marriage to Elaine Pedigo in Martin City, MO. To this marriage a daughter Robin, and a son Scott was born.
Ernie was a union carpenter that specialized in cabinet making and trim work for 20 years. He was a master craftsman of the trade. In March 1982 he and his family started Ramsey’s Feed in Harrisonville. There he continued building the business for the next 30 years until April of 2011 when his health started to decline and forced him to retire. What he enjoyed the most were his customers and formulating specialty feeds for show cattle, horses and other livestock. In the late 70’s, Ernie, along with his family, enjoyed going to truck and tractor pulls. In 1977, he purchased a new Dodge 4x4 known as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The family traveled throughout the United States pulling against top rated trucks. In 1980 he finished 3rd place in points throughout the nation.
One of Ernie’s favorite things to do was spending time with his family. Many good memories were made around the dinner table. He loved a good bonfire and hayride on the family farm. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ernie is survived by his wife Elaine of 46 years; a daughter Robin Hasenyager and husband Bruce of Harrisonville; a son Scott Ramsey and wife Lynette of Harrisonville; 4 grandchildren Jamie and Matthew Hasenyager and Leslie “Haidyn” and Mairiah Ramsey; a brother Leslie Ramsey III and wife Sharon of Kansas City, MO
Funeral serivces will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2012 at the East Lynne Baptist Church with interment in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggests contributions may be made to the East Lynne Baptist Church memorial fund.
