Evelena M. Ridgway

Mrs. Evelena M. Ridgway of Harrisonville, Missouri was born October 8, 1924 in Calhoun, Missouri the daughter of Ernest McKinley and Lorena Pearl (Goucher) Kampe. She departed this life on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at St. Luke?s Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 85 years and 27 days.
On September 30, 1942, Evelena was united in marriage to James Lee Ridgway in Calhoun, Missouri.
Evelena was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Harrisonville were she had taught the 4 year old Sunday School class for many years. Evelena was a member of the Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, oil painting, crocheting, flower arranging and was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts of all kinds. She had lived in Calhoun before moving to Harrisonville in 1950.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Kampe and a sister, Laura McMillan.
She is survived by her husband, James L. Ridgway of the home; a son, Keith N. Ridgway and wife, Beverley, Amoret, Missouri; a daughter, Kathie Smalley and husband, Larry, Harrisonville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jess Smalley (Michele), Justin Smalley (Erin), Peggy Davidson (Dennis), Lorita Ridgway; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chester Kampe, Versailles, Missouri, Vernon Kampe, Clinton, Missouri; three sisters, Irene Wharton and Ester Pugh both of Versailles, Missouri, Darlene Beck, Independence, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial at the Clinton Memory Gardens Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Harrisonville, Missouri.
