Father Donald Cleary

Fr. Donald Robidoux Cleary, of Olathe, Kansas was born May 20, 1929 in St. Joseph, Missouri the son of John Raymond and Mary Sylvanie (Perry) Cleary. He departed this life on Sunday February 23, 2014 at the Villa St. Francis, Olathe at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 3 days.
Fr. Cleary was a great, great grandson of Joseph Robidoux, founder of the city of St. Joseph, MO. He attended Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph and served in the Navy during the Korean War. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Notre Dame and a BA from Conception Seminary. He served several parishes during his career and retired in 1997.
Besides his parents, Fr. Don was preceded in death by his older sister Mary Frances Roberts and his older brother Jack Cleary.
Survivors include his older brother, Robert J; his twin sister, Dorothy Gallagher; his youngest sister, Genevieve and many nieces and nephews. Fr. Cleary was very loved by his entire family and will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Villa St Francis where he resided and also the Catholic Charities Hospice for their help in taking care of him the past year.
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, Missouri.
A Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the St. Louis Cemetery, Good Intent/Atchison, Kansas.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Charities Hospice.
