Frances Eliza Houk of Garden City, Missouri was born August 5, 1916 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri the daughter of Fred Labon and Myrtle Mae (Acre) Prather. She departed this life on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 97 years 1 month and 8 days.
On August 10, 1938 Frances was united in marriage to Emmett Willis Houk in Kansas City, Kansas.
Frances was employed as an assembler for Western Electric, Lee’s Summit, Missouri before her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Garden City. Frances enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, quilting and cooking. She had lived in Kansas City before moving to Garden City.
Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett on August 31, 1986. 5 brothers, Raymond, Nathan, Charles, Allen and infant brother, Donald; 5 sisters, Almeda, Effie Lou, Viola, Dorothy and infant sister, Lynn.
Frances is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Stone and Claudia Kozisek and husband, Gene all of Garden City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Terree Stone, Sherree Harris, Ronda James and Ryan Gulley; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Burial is in the Lee's Summit Cemetery, Lee's Summit, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Care Services, Harrisonville, Missouri.
