Gary Allen Vogeler of Garden City, Missouri was born February 21, 1941 in Dayton, Missouri the son of Kenneth William and Hazel Rozena (Wimsatt) Vogeler. He departed this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 11 days.
On February 17, 1967, Gary was united in marriage to Marcella Blanche Burton in Miami, Oklahoma.
Gary was employed for 25 years as an over the road truck driver for Lewis and Robey in Butler, Missouri before his retirement in 1997. He was an Army veteran. For the past 18 years, Gary sold produce at the Farmers Market in Lee's Summit, Missouri where he loved to sit and brag about his watermelons. On April 14, 1980, Gary accepted Christ as his personal Savior. When, his health permitted, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and finding mushrooms. Gary was a lifelong area resident of the Dayton Community.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael.
Gary is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marcella Vogeler of the home; four daughters, Loretta Seleman (Marty), Garden City, Missouri, Lisa Hostetter (Buddy), Waverly, Missour, Diane Bowman, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, DebbieVogeler-Ailshire, Holden, Missouri; several special grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Judy Hall, Archie, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
The town of Dayton will miss him and his bright yellow truck.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Dayton Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2015 at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Training Center Christian School.
